How to Unleash the Power of Nuts and Seeds
Nuts and seeds can be a nutrient-dense food, contain l, but contain substances that interfere with the body’s ability to absorb nutrients.
These substances are phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors. Phytic acid is necessary for the plant because it safeguards the nut or seed until proper growing conditions are present and germination can occur.
Enzyme inhibitors on the other hand, prevent the seed or nut from sprouting prematurely. Enzyme inhibitors stop the seed or nut from releasing its nutritional value and can cause problems in the body by binding to nutrients and contributing to nutrient deficiencies and digestive system irritation.
In other words, nuts and seeds are considered good sources of protein and nutrients but these substances can keep nutrients from being absorbed in the digestive system and reduce the digestibility of these foods.
How to Neutralize these Substances and Release the Power of Nuts and Seeds!
You can easily neutralize these substances, so to speak, by simply soaking them:
-
The best and healthiest seeds and nuts to consume are organic and have not been pasteurized or irradiated.
-
Soak them in warm water, with a sea or Himalayan salt.
-
Soak seeds for at least 6-7 hours, and nuts as a general rule, 8-12 hours. Softer nuts take less time than harder nuts such as almonds. Or just soak them overnight.
-
The warm water will help to neutralize the enzyme inhibitors and increase the bioavailability of many nutrients, including b-vitamins. The salt helps activate enzymes that deactivate the enzyme inhibitors present in nuts.
-
During the soaking process, you can rinse and replace water and add a pinch of salt.
Once soaked and rinsed, you can use the seeds or nuts to make delicious yogurts, dressings, and dips. You can also dehydrate them. Or store in the refrigerator and use in salads to enhance the nutritional value and protein in the salad.
In addition,
you can also soak legumes, such as lentils and mung beans, and allow them to sprout. Sprouts make great nutritious, living food to add to salads, tacos, etc.
You can also purchase sprouted nuts and seeds.
And why is sprouting beneficial …
Sprouting is the basis of all plant life, concentrating nutrients and unlocking the germ of the seed to reveal its inner life. Raw nuts, seeds, and grains can all benefit measurably from sprouting. Sprouting is achieved by soaking and rinsing, then dehydrating them at low temperatures.
In most instances, sprouting will initiate germination, beginning the process to transform the seed into a plant. Typically this will increase the nutrients contained in the sprouted seed. Sprouting can also improve digestibility and aid in nutrient absorption. Enzymes that support digestion are produced in the sprouting process. Sprouting also removes phytic acid.

Author
David spent over 27 years in the mortgage/real estate business. But 33 years ago, God re-directed his life and placed in him a passion for natural health and prevention of disease. Today, David is a certified health consultant, and for the last 33 years has lived a natural food lifestyle and discovered simple, key components for living a lifestyle of health and vitality. One of the early things David realized is that disease was NOT the result of a drug deficiency. And that everything we think, say, and consume or are exposed to in some manner or another either supports our cellular structures or causes them to age faster and breakdown.
David believes there is nothing more important than to live within God’s blueprint for one’s life. Each of us has been given specific gifts, talents, and purpose that are to be lived out on a foundation of faith in Him and His Word.
“It saddens me to see people suffering, frustrated, or discouraged with life … and fall into the rut of living, unable to reach their full potential: spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially. I think it’s also a travesty in this country people that are not educated in personal health care, nor in how to protect their privacy, assets, and often liberties. God has designed us to live amazing lives, and sometimes it just helps to find someone who will come alongside and provide the hope and direction needed at that moment. It’s about bringing together your personal and business aspirations into a balanced vision for your life, aligned with His Word.“
“Bottom line, what balance do you need to bring to your life, what type of life do you desire to create that enables you to be all you can be and live a life with no regret – a life that produces a faithful servant?”
